Turbo Supports Memorial Honor for Gene Stus

To help bring awareness to the second annual Gene Stus STRIKE OUT HEART DISEASE BOWLING FUND RAISER and to raise money for cardiovascular disease, Turbo Bowling Accessories has designed a special Gene Stus Memorial Patch that can be worn by bowlers everywhere to show their support for this very worthy project, starting at the PBA World Series of Bowling in Las Vegas this month.

“Gene Stus was a great friend of our company and our family,” said Turbo President Lori Mraz. “We will remember him fondly and hope to raise awareness in Gene’s name for cardiovascular disease and the great research being done at the U of M Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.”

Stus, a member of the PBA Hall of Fame and 1992 Senior Bowler of the Year, won 11 titles on the PBA50 Tour. He suffered with heart disease most of his adult life, and passed away in August at age 74.

“I am very thankful to Lori Mraz, Dave Bernhardt and everyone at Turbo Grips for brainstorming this idea. I think it’s a great tribute to my dad, and my dad considered the Bernhardt family the closest of friends,” said Gene’s son Troy Stus.

The Stus family will conduct the 2nd Annual Gene Stus Strike Out Heart Disease Fundraiser at their Pinz Bowling Center in South Lyon, Michigan in the Spring of 2015. All proceeds will benefit the University of Michigan Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center through the Bo Schembechler Heart of a Champion Research Fund.
