UNO Men Post Solid Start to 2007-2008 Season
The University of Nebraska Omaha men's bowling team won both the Warhawk Classic and the Titan Invitational back-to-back in November 2007, and have posted solid finishes in all seven of the tournaments they've competed in this season.
"The guys are having a great year. They've worked hard and they deserve what they've accomplished so far," says Head Coach J. J. Mastny.
The Mavericks finished the first half of the season ranked 11th in the collegiate bowling power rankings. They will look to improve that ranking in their last three tournaments leading up to postseason competition, and carry that momentum over into the Intercollegiate Team Championships in March and April.
Mastny, who also drills the team's equipment, switched his players to Turbo Grips, thumb solids, and oval inserts prior to the start of the 2007-2008 season.
"We started using ICE grips and the Turbo urethane solids, and they've been a huge hit with everyone. The guys like the softer, textured feel of the grips, and I like how easy the slugs are to work with," commented Mastny. "Turbo was a great choice for us."
