TISH JOHNSON, MARK WILLIAMS JOIN TEAM TURBO

04/05/2010

Two Hall of Fame bowlers have joined the Turbo Staff – Tish Johnson, who won 25 pro titles in her career, and Mark Williams, two time winner of the prestigious PBA Tournament of Champions. Both are still active on the tournament scene, and both operate pro shops when they are not on the road.

Johnson is now 48, and has been living in Colorado Springs for the past five years. She and a partner own two pro shops. One is in Denver at Littleton Lanes, and the other in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson.

During her touring days with the PWBA, she won four major titles including the 1992 U. S. Open, and the Sam’s Town Invitational three times. From 1982-2003, she made over 100 television appearances on her way into both the USBC and PWBA Halls of Fame.

In 1996, she also became the first woman to defeat some of the best male bowlers in the world to win a megabuck tournament, the Super Hoinke Classic, where she earned a $100,000 prize. In the semi-final match of that event, she defeated PBA tour great Robert Smith to advance to the title match.

Williams also had a Hall of Fame career that continues today on the PBA Senior Tour. The 52-year-old Texan won seven tour titles, and now owns two senior crowns. He won the 1985 and 1988 PBA Tournament of Champions, and was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in 1999, the year he retired from the tour. Today, he operates the Mark Williams Pro Shop inside Crossroads Bowl in Beaumont.

“I have been using Turbo products for many years, and now we are proud to feature them in our pro shop. They are the best in the business,” said Williams.

Johnson is also a long time user of Turbo products, and says they are very popular with her pro shop customers. “We sell a lot of Switch Grips and people love them,” she said. She also works with Lou Marquez at Turbo to get the best fit in her own equipment with custom slugs. “When we got these shops, the first thing we did was call Lori Tessmar to get Turbo products in them, and they are very popular with our customers.”
“We are delighted to welcome Mark and Tish to Team Turbo,” said Tessmar, president of Marketing and Sales. “Their revered success in the sport, as well as business, is a great compliment to our brand.  The trust and confidence of our team members and valued customers is a testament to our commitment to quality, service and innovation.”
Since its beginnings in 1990, Turbo has grown to become one of the best and most innovative companies in the industry.
